Default Some of my horse pictures

I hope I'm not filling this forum up to much Here are some of the pictures I took of mini horses that are down the road from me.

Here is #1, I blurred the area surrounding the horse with the computer.

hey nikki - it be great if you could upload the pictures directly to the thread, especially when putting up multiple shots to critique.
in my opinion, heres some feedback -
#1 seems too far away - the horse might look great (im not sure though, because of the distance), but the blurred green framing takes away from the focal point, maybe try cropping it closer?
#2 has a very large distraction in front of the horse. try taking your time and waiting for the composition to come together (since you cant place the horse where you need it to be, you have to be patient & wait to get the right angle so there arent fences etc in the way)
#3 is probably the best, although im not a fan of the fence in the way again

    keep trying!
and keep posting pics - its great to see new photos! we learn from them too...

heres an imbedded quote of instructions marko gave me when i 1st started uploading pics. i too had a hard time getting them the right size so they can be uploaded. if you dont already have irfanview, you should download it for free - its really useful!

Irfarview is a great simple and free program that does all kind of photo editing including RESIZING IMAGES. You can get it free at Irfanview.com

Just installed it and here`s instructions from my Vista OS computer - should be the same in XP and Mac as well.

    Open image in irfanview

Next go to Image - Resize/Resample...

Where it ways Width (under Set new size) if your image is GREATER than 600 pixels then enter 500 or 600 pixels in that box then click OK. If your image is smaller than 600 pixels, just click OK.

Make SURE that the Preserve aspect ratio box is checked off. Make SURE the Size method: is set to Resample (better quality)

I`m attaching a screenshot below. I used it to resize a photo that was 800x1200 pixels and was 281 KB

Next go to File - Save as... choose JPG-JPG/JPEG Format where it says Save as type from the dropdown menu. The default setting there should be fine. Just make sure the slider is set at about 50.

Doing this should get you a file that is less than 100K
If by chance it isn't, then just go back and move the slider to 40 when you are saving.

That should work and give you a photo that is the right size and NOT fuzzy. Please do a test and let me know if this works for you. If it doesn't, it's my pleasure to troubleshoot this with you by phone.

    Best! Marko
