increasing size of MBs in a photo?

Upsizing is usually the WRONG thing to do AKAIK (as far as i know ) because it adds artifacts to the file and generally makes the files look worse.

Although i have not tried it I have heard of software from Alien Skin called Blowup http://www.alienskin.com/blowup/index.html

It is supposed to be excellent and they have a demo version.

Easiest way to do that would be to save your file in TIFF format. It's a completely uncompressed image file. I only know that you can do that in Photoshop, i'm not sure if you can do that in other programs.

I do save my pics as tiffs but they have to be 4MB or more as a jpeg.
I have Photoshop Elements 4 which does all that I need.

That alienskin software is $200.00...I wish I could afford it!!

I did some messing around in Photoshop to help you, and I came up with a solution. All you have to do is change the resolution on your image. Go to the Image pull down, and select image size. You can still keep the same image size, just increase the resolution. About 25-50% should do the trick just fine. Hope that works for you.

The problem is, that I'm only allowed to increase the resolution by 5%

My son is lending me his D100...don't know if that will give more MBs.

I've got a 4x5 view camera but I havn't used for it for about 20 years.
That would do the trick.
Trouble is they want $5 to process (1) tranny so that is too expensive for me.

I have Photoshop 7, so I wasn't sure what your version of Photoshop could do. With that I have one more suggestion. If you increase the resolution by 5%, maybe you could save the picture and open it up again and increase the resolution by 5% and so on until you've reached your desired MB. I know that would be very inconvenient, but it might be a viable option for you. Hope that helps.

I don't know if your idea would work and if it didn't, that would be
disheartening to say the least. I did notice that shooting into the daylight,
the file was bigger but still not big enough.
