    Default Canon Rebel XSi

Hey everyone I am new to photography and I was just wondering if the Canon Rebel XSi is a good choice to start off with. Right now I am using a basic cheap digital camera but it does the job for just starting out. need something a bit better now that I am getting more into it. Any reviews?

Canon, Nikon, Pentax, and Sony will all render great images to people who know how to use them. There is no predominent winner. My advice would be to compare prices and features that are important to you.... go and hold each of the models you are interested in... and make a decision from there...

    good luck..

the only photos i really shoot right now are black and white. i want to expand but do not understand the concepts and terms of photography yet so making a choice is based on pure pixels right now lol

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Not to be rude, but pixel count is the least of your concerns. Any DSLR with 4 or more Mega pixels will do fine. As Travis said, spend a couple of hours down at your local camera store, pick up all the cameras, have the clerk show you the basic controls, compare features, price, and availability. THEN make a decision.

    Hi Ben997,

We have had this discussion a few times on this forum so i just wanted you to see this thread
    Good starter Digital SLR?

It may give you some food for thought.

Although the Canon Rebel XSi is a good camera to learn on you could probably get away with a used canon 20d for HALF the price or less.

    Hope that helps,

    Marko

Default I just bought the XSI yesterday!

I am going for a quick camera/photo lesson tomorrow. I have just taken the camera out of the box. I was told by 3 professional photographers that this camera is an excellent camera, especially since I am just getting my feet wet in the world of digital photography. I will keep you updated as to how user friendly the camera is, and perhaps post some pics!

I absolutely love my Canon Rebel XSi. I highly recommend it to anyone! It is so easy to use, even for just beginners. While it is not recommended to stay on auto, you can defintiely produce some beautiful pictures! I have had mine since April 1st (when it first came out) and I have nothing but great things to say about it. Here are just some pictures I have taken with my camera...
