Default Photography Related Domain Name - Advice

    Hi folks.
I haven't been hanging around on the forum much lately but I'm hoping you can throw me some thoughts on valuation of a photography related domain name I have been asked to sell. I know there are appraisal services for such things, but as far as I can tell from reading up on godaddy's appraisals, for example, they seem loosey goosey wild guesses at best. The only real value is what it's worth to someone. And that is a tough game without a crystal ball.
The domain name is ubersnap (dot) com
From all I've read on valuation of web names it seems to satisfy most important criteria of a good name, relevant, memorable, less than 10 letters long, is .com and not .net or other, etc
Someone contacted me saying they are a student and want the name for a photo blog, but who knows... a crafty buyer would be expected to say as much.
I initially told him that a student's blog probably wouldn't justify a price that would make it worth selling for me, but he came back as persistent as ever, wanting me to name that price.
Does anyone here have any similar experiences to relate, or some experience in negotiating or valuing something like domain names?
I have a price in mind of $750 but my mind sways from "that's insanely overpriced" to "that's nothing the way .com real estate is disappearing so quickly." Truth is, I see worse names billed as premium domains priced in the thousands of dollars.
I was going to put this in the off topic forum, but it clearly says topics not related to photography and this is albeit loosely.

Hi FB - no prob to post this here.
    I know a small bit about this....small.
IMHO - it's a decent domain name but it does not strike me as premium in the north american market due to the fact that it could easily be misspelled if you just told the name to someone on the street. That said - it's like you say, it's worth whatever someone wants to pay and it "may" be worth more in Europe.
If it were my name and i wasn't into doing the research, I'd likely ask for between 1-2 grand.
That said again lol, once I'm asking 1-2 grand.....I WOULD do the research just in case it's worth more.
Feel free to Pm me if you'd like a couple of related sites.
    best - marko

    Default Thanks

Thanks Marko, I agree not a primo domain. I keep putting that into perspective with time- nowadays there's not really any primo .com names left for the $12/yr base price to be had. It's interesting when you start exploring the kinds of names that are already taken. Almost anything you can think of.... put a .com on the end and search for it.... it's kinda crazy.

Yeah you have to be creative with the dot coms.... 5 years ago or something like that, I heard that every noun in the english language was registered as a dot com.

But if you are creative there are PLENTY of choices. facebook is a popular dot com and a quick search shows that eyebrowbook.com is still available - lol.
