    Default Certificate of Authenticity

This should be general knowledge among photographers and most of all and one who sells fine art photography. I have not seen this mentioned here and I keep thinking about posting this each time I sell a print and that is do you include letters of Authenticity when you sell a photo as limited edition or in my case one of kind?

I think that this is an important part of your ability to make sure your work is protected and can be authenticated. It is not really hard to do when your selling a print and think everyone who sells any of their photos as fine art should include such a document with each photo they sell. They are very easy to do and you can design your own which I have but each other galleries I deal with will also issue them to me if I want or if I sell through them or you can look for a template online, since I designed my own I am not sure what is available for free or if there are any. I will have a look and if I find one I will post a link to it. If you do plan on being taken serious and do want actually want your work to be of value in the future you should always include one. I was sent this article by one a gallery owner. I think it explains to buyers, artists and dealers of what they should know about these letters of authenticity. I also have linked to an article at the same site about provenance and it ties into the letter of authenticity and why you should consider including them with your works so your work will always be easier to authenticate now and in the future.

For such an important part of selling art I am stunned this was not important enough to discuss.

It's an interesting discussion point, A.L., and I'm afraid I missed this the first time around. Right now, I've been basically just giving away my images as Marko suggests I do it for my own enjoyment. I've never actually sold a photo yet. Came close a couple of times but haven't actually sold one. Seems like a lot of work for me right now.
