    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a dSLR camera but still don't know which one. Can y'all give me a few advices on which you think could be good for my needs.

    My needs are:

    Good battery life
    Good for night scenes
Compatibale with a lot of lenses
    Good for landscapes/ nature/ urban
Budget around 1000$ with all the equipment

    Thanks.

There are many many choices. Do you already have any lenses? What is your photography experience?

Nope, I don't have any lenses. When I'll buy the camera, I'll buy some equipment with it.

And it will be my first dSLR.

Canon EOS 400D also know as Digital Rebel XTi with lens is about 1000. It is getting very good reviews.

Canon 20 D on ebay might also be a good bet.

Nikon D50 or D70 might also be good choices.

In general I'd say a 6 Megapixel or greater DSLR from any major brand would be a good bet for your first DSLR. The key really is the lenses because once you have lenses, it's best not to switch cameras because the lenses don't always work from one brand to another.

    Good luck!

    Default Sony Alpha

The Sony Alpha is also worth considering because design-wise it is a Minolta and there are a lot of Minolta lenses available. Zeiss lenses are being developed for it and Zeiss has top quality glass, comparable to Leica. Sony also has two new DSLR Alphas that were shown at PMA in an even higher quality and price range, so there is room to grow in this system and Sony has never hesitated to be innovative.

So I'm thinking about getting the D70s body(used so I can get it for cheaper) and buy a good lens. The problem is that I don't know much about lenses, and it would be great if y'all could suggest me a good lens for landscapes & night shots. Also, Also, if y'all could help me out on my kit it would be awesome. In other words, tell me what I should consider buying for landscapes photography.. any little object I might forgot that could make a difference. As far as I'm going, I'm considering on buying the following. What do you guys think I should add or remove maybe? Or is that enough.

    Grolliapod
    Tripod
UV Filter / Polarizer Filter / Split Filter
Lens (still don't know which one)
Camera bag (One that could be covered from the rain and such would be great)
    Cleaning Kit
    4GB Memory Card
