    Default Abandoned houses

    Hello,
I am looking to do a series of images on abandoned houses but haven't run across any worth mentioning. Have any of you in your travels seen any interesting houses worth shooting? I live in Dartmouth and have just switched over to digital shooting from film. I thought this might be a good subject to learn how to use my camera. Any help will be most appreciated. Thank you.

    regards,

    Tim

    Hi Tim
I know of a couple where i am but it's hard to know what you are looking for. I know that if you drive down the lesser roads of NS you are bound to find old barns and houses.

Reading from the web site "Dartmouth is the loveliest of the South Hams towns, and well deserves its reputation as the jewel in Devon's crown." and it has it's own Castle what better old house could one get!

It is odd though in Mid-Wales we look at the well looked after caravan with tended garden as an eye sore yet the old farm cottage with no roof and wild vegetation slowly breaking it up further as adding rustic charm.

Get an original gipsy caravan horse drawn and does not matter what state it is in and it's photogenic but those chrome covered caravans they use today are an eye sore.

Or at least that's how many people see them. However I am sure there is some angle with some lighting which could be used to make them worthy of wall space in a gallery.

But with all the abandoned mines around the Dartmouth area you should be able to find something. The place is so famous there are towns throughout the world named after it. Although in North Wales we now have any abandoned property taken over by local council and offered for renovation so I suppose soon the old cottage slowly rotting away will become some ones dream home?

It's hard to say for sure but I suspect our new friend Tim is from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada and I don't believe there are any castles there

If you want abandoned houses in NS you have to follow the old roads. I haven't shot a lot but I've seen quite a few. Travel out the #7 highway a bit and then turn off onto some of the side roads. I would be that you'll find a number of places to shoot. I'd use caution though, not all of these run-down looking homes are abandoned!

lol I was reading and thinking 'castles?' I know I don't know Dartmouth NS very well (but I can find the malls ) but didn't think there were castles.

    And I agree re: caution.

No worries, it's still great to hear about the original Dartmouth
