    Thanks JAS for the reminder of a great photographers birthday. I am a great fan of Lange maybe because she married a Dixon … for awhile :-).

    Not only was her work photographicly very strong it also showed a great deal of reverence for her subject. I often wonder how much her equipment played in her particular style. She often used a graflex camera and held it at waist height and looked down into the reflex housing. This forced her to shoot up at her subject and this position often gives the impression of importance. I suspect she was well aware of this as she used it to great advantage. In any event her work for the FSA under the tutelage of Roy Stryke was and is iconic.

    Thanks for the additional info, Grant. I like to go through the Library of Congress flickr pages from time to time and look at all the old photos, many by famous pioneers of photography.
