WOW Kat! :highfive: I think it is freaking awesome! :thankyou: Pete!
I third it! Thanks, Pete! :1st::thankyou:
That's awesome! Thanks Kat and Pete!
I see Iggy implemented that header - Thx Iggy
I started adding a few pages and came up with an error.
Maybe it's a cache error? I tried to add a custom link just as a placeholder right near the about link....it caused a problem so i deleted it.
Now from MY end when i hit public publicphotography.org it automatically goes to http://publicphotography.org/new-page-1/ which is a page I deleted.
Are other members seeing this?
Thx!
marko
This is what I get Marko-Not Found
Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will h
ok fixed. Thx.
lots of settings in this new version of WP...not all of them super-intuitive.
Ok fixed up the blogroll to include laws in the USA, canada and the UK.
I copied the ABOUT section and made it post 1. If we choose to, we can always have that about text as the main text on publicphotography.org OR we can have it be more standard where the newest post always shows first....we have time to decide but feel free to opine.
I tried modifying the Categories to add a less generic term than Uncategorized... but that seemed to muck with the existing pages....so I reverted.
What also might be nice is if we can include a facebook widget and perhaps a flicker widget... Iggy said he might be able to take a look into this... If there's any trouble with this I can also take a look...but only tomorrow.
many thx!
Marko
If members have a few minutes and want to help, i know we have a bunch of links to videos on THIS site...showing cops harassing photographers.
If anyone wants to copy and paste a few of those links right here in this thread, we can add them to publicphotography.org.
If no-one gets to this today I can have a look tomorrow. many thx! m
Starting to get a little excited.
19 Members on Flickr, 44 Members on Facebook. Starting to promote through my social network. So, I'll tell more than 2 friends... wonder how this will turn out :goodvibes
Way cool :highfive: :goodvibes - I'll start my promotion likely next week when the blog has a bit more meat on it.
I've also edited post 1 for easy access to these summarized links.
Thx - Marko

I have invited pretty much most of my flickr contacts to join the flickr group. I also include a note to invite as many of their contacts as well. I urge everyone else to do the same. So far 12 of them have joined the group. :)
cool! I've added a few blog posts to publicphotography.org
I also remember this thread form AL a few months ago:
http://www.photography.ca/Forums/f3/...aphy-8265.html
Especially the paragrpah in the link that says
What unusual situations we should be watching for?
Although the chance of such situations occuring is unlikely, we urge you to be alert to any unusual situation.
A suspicious package left unattended in a bus, near a bus stop or in a transit shelter;
A package, bag or other carry-on baggage left unattended at some distance or purposely left out of the way;
A package carrying unusual items such as batteries, electrical wires or containers;
A jittery or nervous individual loitering near a transit shelter or whose behaviour on board a bus appears suspicious, abnormal or out of the ordinary;
An individual taking photos or pictures in a location that has no particular interest, drawing maps or sketches, taking notes or wandering in the same location for an unusually long time;
An unexpected detour of your bus from its regular transit route, unannounced by your driver or an official notice from the operator of the transit system.
Particular interest? Who defines what is of "no particular interest"??? :shrug: I do all of that downtown every time I go out with a camera!
Hey one more idea...maybe we can move this thread to it's own topic or make a sticky? PublicPhotography.org That way we can add stuff as we go and not clog up General Photography too much? :)
Good idea but I'll leave that for Marko to decide. Also, as an FYI, I buzzed Thomas Hawk - a fairly well known photographer on the 'net and he put a link to PublicPhotography.org on his site, Thomas Hawk Digital Connection and joined our Flickr group. :)
Done - I have kept this a sticky in this forum and edited the threadtitle...
Did you think it should be it's own forum or subforum... hmmm?
Btw - I added the Ottawa link and a disney link as well in the publicphotography.org website
Nice Iggy!
I think a Sticky is fine... I don't think it needs it's own forum. Just makes the GP section a bit cleaner IMO. :)
Just curious - were we thinking this was going to be a Canada wide shoot in?
or perhaps a world wide shoot in? If so I'll change the thread title to world wide shoot in. Don't want to exclude anyone in another country that wants to get involved.
thx! M
If you are helping in any way with this project we'd like to give you credit on the About page on the blog... About | Publicphotography.org
I'd prefer to know how you'd like to be credited though...
So basically please list your preference - your FORUM name or your REAL name. Please also list 1 website or flickr site etc, if you want that to go beside your name.
Thanks! marko

I was thinking it might not be a bad idea if Marko were to open up say a Custom T-Shirts | Make your t-shirt online | T-Shirt Printing & Design store to sell photography.org branded merchandise and make back a few $$$$ for hosting the website and registering the domain. I know I would buy a t-Shirt. Members here could contribute ideas on what they would like to see in the store etc. It would help offset expenses incurred.
I just sent Carlos Miller an email hoping to engage his support as well. :)
Photography Is Not A Crime
I am hoping he will post a link to us in his blog and perhaps we can so the same in return. :)
I will let you know if I hear back from him.
Thx iggy - Not going to push the credits thing, just going to copy/paste names from this thread and if people want me to make changes to their credit i can.
The registration, and hosting is my pleasure. I don't want one cent for this. In fact if this were to generate any money at all for any reason - we could talk as a group what to do with it. What I could use....is more help. JAS, might I be so bold as to ask you to look into this T-shirt idea. I think a branded T-shirt is a great idea and i would buy one too..
Many thx in advance if you are able..
well that's cool! Please let us know what he says and of course we can reciprocate!
thx! - M
With respect to t-Shirts maybe we just need to create a really cool design (or 3) and register it with Custom T-Shirts - Design Your T-Shirts Online - Free Shipping! which seems to be a pretty good place (reading a few reviews) to order from.
I thought I would throw this out: I made a little leaflet and saved it in a word document to hand out in case I ever get hassled again for shooting so I thought I would post it for anyone else to use as they see fit. :)
Feel free to post it, use it, comment on it or change it up if you think the wording is not okay:
Thanks for your interest in my photography. I want to inform you that I am doing nothing wrong:
I am guaranteed that right to take pictures in public in Canada because it is clearly outlined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Section 2.b) states that as both a Canadian citizen and as a photographer I am allowed:
"Freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;”
This statement absolutely guarantees my right to express myself through photography, and the freedom to publish my photos. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees my right to take photographs in public.
I can take photos of anything and under regular circumstances, as long as no laws are broken while photographing, it is not against the law.
Publicphotography.org | A Celebration Focusing on the Rights of Photographers
Also when I get a bit more time (I have had the last couple days off from my practicum due to my preceptor needing the days off) I am going to approach The Camera Store.
I want to see if I can get them on board with advertising and supporting our event because ultimately if sales go down because of all these hassles and new laws, who is going to want to take up photography as a hobby or spend money on something they could be arrested for or hassled by the authorities :shrug:
Iggy, Wordans lets you create your own store, so all you do is create a few products and put up a link for everyone to order from. Plus it's Canadian. :)
Marko, I could set it up, with the designs we have so far and let you take a look and see what you think.
That would be super-appreciated Jas! Many thx!
Carlos Miller is now watching our site. I got his email today. :)
I like it! Please keep in mind That ANYONE should be able to register and post what they want on the blog.... So let me know casil if you want to post this or if I should do it. (No worries either way since it's already written and will only take me 3 min to post this)
AWESOME! keep us posted!
way cool!!!
Many thx! Marko
Feel free to post it on the site Marko. Thankfully I did not need to use them today but I now have copies of them in my bag if needed. :)
Ok, the store is created. It has no product yet as the designs must be approved and Kat is having Pete resize them to meet minimum size standards. There is no commission on any item so they are set at minimum prices. It will be a day or two for that. There are link backs to the blog and facebook page.

I had an idea for a shirt:
Our really cool logo on one side and this statement on the other side:
“Freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;”- from section 2.b)The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Also definition of photography:
Merriam Webster:
Main Entry: pho·tog·ra·phy
Pronunciation: \fə-ˈtä-grə-fē\
Function: noun
Date: 1839
: the art or process of producing images by the action of radiant energy and especially light on a sensitive surface (as film or a CCD chip)
Anyhow just a thought....
