Default Getting caught off Guard ...

When I got back into photography after a while I wanted a shot at a gallery show, I didn't care if I sold a photo or anything else, I just really wanted to be in a gallery, not sure why, maybe a little ego and I am not getting younger.

I have far surpassed that desire, I was offered my first gallery several months ago now. Since then I am now in 3 galleries and the latest I have a wall 12x10 that will just be for my photos at a gallery in Toronto's Distillery District in a heritage building and is on the Toronto Walking Tour. I am also in talks with another Gallery for an exclusive 4 week showing in Toronto on the Queen St. E. Gallery Alley. I also just finished 2 exhibitions, one mentioned here for the Charity event which went very well, and 7 day run as part of exhibition showing just me and another photographer.

This weekend I was offered a position for part of Innovation Toronto a not for profit organization that has a gallery and a multi discipline artist project starting in an 8,000 foot area that houses an area for audio, visual arts including high quality affordable audio studio space, video and photo studios, large format print capabilities and a host of other services.

They offer classes and other services for artists at cost. This is something I believe Toronto was in need of, a place for artists of all disciplines to congregate and exchange ideas, share, work in tandem etc and at cost for those struggling to start and affordable to those who need the break.

I do not get paid for most of my time there, I just wanted to be part of it and was very impressed from all the people who were considered it was offered to me. I will also be teaching some courses, for those I do get paid but not why I am getting involved, just a great idea which that I want to be involved with.

I just been caught off guard by how everything seems to have fallen in place so fast. Could not have asked for more, just as a photographer my goal has been to see my work framed and hung and seen, and just for that I am happy the rest is just the cherry on top.
