How much of what you photograph do you print? I may have posed this question before but lots of new faces so thought I would ask anyway. My biggest issue with going to a DSLR from the old film SLR was I was worried that I would not print enough. I hate viewing my photos on my computer except to do whatever adjustments I require after that if they are not printed I rarely ever look at them.

So do you print a lot? You print none, or you do a bit of both? I think photos are meant to be seen on paper and not viewed on computers. My reason for it is each make, operating system, display type shows the photo differently and most people don't have calibrated monitors to begin with so I just think it butchers photos when just viewed on computers. I see my photos on my screen and they look great, I am visiting someone and then I view my photos, the colours always look off to me, the clarity is not always there and the brightness level the use also has an effect.

Just throwing it out and see if anyone sees it as I do or find they in fact prefer viewing it on the monitors.

Very little, in general.

Photos generally go into my library. Sometimes I will make something, such as an iPhoto photobook for a gift, or I will print out some pics for the family noticeboard, and sometimes I will do things ultimately destined for artwork that gets printed (brochures, flyers, catalogs, signs, CD covers etc).

But my personal general photo printing is usually limited to printing out stuff I have for family/friends. I don't really need to print for my needs, just having them in my library is mostly enough.

I definitely love photos in print more than I do on the comp although I haven't had a chance to print anything yet. I don't hate viewing it on the monitor but it doesn't quite have the same feel as when I'm holding it in my hands

It's a great topic A.L. and one of my pet peeves about digital.

At this point, I print maybe 1% of what I shoot and upload maybe 5%. This is in TOTAL contrast to film when I had a contact or proof made of EVERY frame and printed about 15-20% of what I shot (for personal/artistic stuff).

In terms of viewing - there's nothing like a real print. Whether it is printed on inkjet paper or traditional photo paper is no longer that important IMO and both are way better than looking at an image on a screen.

Right now I print about what I did when I shot film if not more. At some point it may be an issue as I will eventually run out of wall space at home. My biggest issue is frames, most of what is in my office is just the print itself hanging without frames but some point as I get newer photos these will be placed in photo binder.

I had to at one point taken down all my art, put it away because of my frame shortage, now about back to where I was but have a definite frame deficit issue. So far been getting lucky, buying all my frames from print stores with those 75% sales just for the matting and frames. Every time I go into a store or my wife does we look for any print or frame sale and grab what I can but they have to be a great deal. Next purchase is a cutter for the matting.
