    Default Holland-America Cruise

Well, just talked to my parents and Im going on a 7 day cruise to Cozumel, Bahamas, and the Grand Cayman Islands. Should be quite fun. Figured Id share that with you guys. Looks like Im going to need a few more memory cards. Considering what the priority shots should be, the locals on the islands, or the landscape itself. Im leaning towards the locals since there are already thousands of shots of the landscape down there.

Very cool, nice little sping break, huh? My family and I went on a Carnival cruise which stopped in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Ilsa Rotan. It was too brief (like any vacation). The photographic possiblities are endless and I don't think I even scratched the surface when I was there. The problem I find when I go on vacation now is I either have fun and photograph or have fun doing vacation type things. It's hard to do both really well, especially with a family who aren't interested in getting the perfect shot. Is this your first time there?

yeah this will be the first time outside the country. Canada doesnt really count. I generally stray away from the family and have my own adventures taking pictures and turn in into my own vacation. I understand where your coming from. When there are opportunities to take pictures, its hard to focus on just enjoying yourself. Although, it is relaxing to take pictures when your compelled to instead of trying to push yourself to progress your skills as a photographer.

I could go on a cruise and be perfectly happy just taking pictures the whole time. The family on the otherhand...

That's part of the reason why I'm trying to perfect my "snapshot techniques" because I rarely have time to work a subject and get the most out of it.

There's nothing like new scenery to reinvigorate your photographic juices.

Me too! I sold my Sony Alpha finally to a man my dad works with. Not Ill be getting a Pentax K10d to replace it! Finally! Ive been looking to get one of those for a long time for several reasons.
    Built in Shake Reduction
Array of easy access dials to avoid getting into menus
Shutter/Aperature Sensativity mode(not to be confused with shutter/aperature priority)
Weather resistant construction(has rubber seals built into the construction so rain, snow and bad weather cant keep the camera away)
    2 Raw formats
    etc. etc. etc.

    It will complete the collection
    Pentax K1000
    K110
    and K10

With lenses being interchangable between old slrs and new dslrs, it make an awesome combination. Purchasing it tonight or tomorrow and it should be here by the end of next week if all goes well. I wanted to get one more accessory for the trip. Was thinking about getting a battery grip for it but or new prime lens maybe?
    What I have now is...
    pentax 18-55 kit
    tamron 70-300mm
    pentax 80-200mm
    pentax 50mm prime
    pentax 135mm prime

I dont have a flash, or battery grip but like the idea of a battery grip, A LOT. Anyone have any experience with them? Not sure if its worth the $100. Any other accessory suggestions...ooo a wireless remote too. I just want to be as prepared as possible for this trip and will probably take all of this with me, especially since Ill have two compatible cameras for it all.
