    Default Nxne

Well I have got my first media pass without a Major Media sponsorship. I thought rather than running around and trying to cut a deal I would see if I could get one on my own merits. I applied for the NXNE media pass just based on my previous works and my several gallery showings and previous print media published photos. Almost always they do not give freelancers media passes for some bizarre reason but I finally was able to get one. Now I don't owe photos to any publication and not getting market value for my photos because a media pass is worth it weight in gold but I always kept the best photos to shop around and they got my discards which they all loved so it worked but I want full control over what I get paid and what is published.

Now this will be a first trying to cut deals before NXNE starts next week where I have more control over price and what is published than anytime before. I was also lucky enough to get opening night pass which is one of the most sought after events in the Toronto Music scene. I get my passes next Wednesday and between now and then I need to decide who I will see, there are 500 bands in 50 venues over 5 days. I don't have commitments for specific shows like I did for Canadian Music week. Just nice to see the control moving more my way.

Thanks, trying to plan out the 5 days is more work then the actual shooting, I have been trying to make my way through all 500 bands and see who sounds are interesting. And then look who plays at what time, at what venue and then seeing what the street buzz is on bands are and who may be worth trying to catch. I still have 5 days to get it done, only decided on two bands so far, not off the a roaring start lol .. I figure I can catch 60 bands over the 5 days but that could be wishful thinking on my part.
