Newfoundland Things to do/shoot

Hey members,

I'm thinking about going to Newfoundland for the first time in the very near future maybe for about 2 weeks.

I know it sounds ridiculous but can people point out fun things to do in Newfoundland. I'm traveling with my wife so i don't want the trip to only be about photography....but great photo spots are of course appreciated.

First and foremost..what part of Newfoundland?

I'm thinking of flying into St. Johns and maybe flying back out of St. Johns which I hear is very cool. I'm into exploring that area as well as St. Pierre and Miquelon (France). I'll have 14-19 days total and I'll likely rent a car.

I'm absolutely open to ideas though...and I might well book this by midnight tonight....

all insight and ideas are greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I've only been to the rock once and that was for 12 short hours. Working day :( I had my old Kodak point and shoot with me so I got a couple of shots while I was there.

You will, of course, have to take a trip up to the top of Signal Hill where you can get quite a view.



And don't forget to stop and have a beer on George St.



I really didn't see much more than that while I was there.

All good Kat, thx for the help- I'm trying to also decide where to fly in and fly out of of. It may be smarter to fly back to Mtl. from St. John's and perhaps fly into a different airport and rent a car. Thx for your input also Iggy, very scenic place.

Hmm..14+ days you could fly into Cornerbrook and travel east to St. Johns.

So far, looks like we'll arrive in St John's and leave from Deer Lake.
We'll likely stay in St. Johns for a few days, head south to St. Pierre and Miquelon for a few days and and return. Then we'll likely drive slowly toward deer lake. Aside from that, totally open so any additional suggestions are appreciated.

Gros Morne! They have boat and walk tours. You'd have to go to the site for more info..haven't been there in years but just gorgeous!
