Default France Proposes Disclaimer for Altered Images

It appears the French Parliament is going to pass a law that any photoshopped images of people will have to have a disclaimer on it. I for one think it is a great idea, I think as most others know by now that there is way to much PS being done.I would like to see photography separate from digital art.

    Story is here.

That is a great idea - makes me think of food labeling.. the stuff tastes great until you suffer a heart attack and learn that all you ate was artery clogging fat.

I think for young girls who are dealing with body image issues, they need to know and see that the images they see are not true.

To stay off a soap box, I will conclude my comment here.

Very cool and great idea.....but might be tricky to implement.

What constitutes "photoshopping"? Aye there's the rub.

Obviously I agree with this type of disclaimer in a fashion mag that has false/poisonous (especially to young girls and boys) images.

Buuuuut. every photo I work on now is photoshopped, leveled, sharpened etc. I hope they don't mean that "basic photoshopping" also needs to be disclaimed.

I also think they need to limit the range of what would be covered under the law, I like the idea of the law but as with any legislation it will come to how it is worded and it would have to clearly pertain to the issue at hand and not go overboard like they usually end up doing when a cause becomes popular. It is a very fine line and hope if they do pass it they at least use some common sense as far as what it covered under the new legislation.

I hear ya A.L. Common sense is often hard to find in politics/legislation though.

They should ask you or me instead.
