    Default Healing

Just wanted to thank Mad Aussie for inquiring how I was doing in a PM so I thought I would post here what is going on as far as my being broken goes lol. Well I thought it would be much better than it is, not healing as fast as I like, and I am stuck in bed a lot days. I do get out when I can and stay out as long as I can tolerate the pain.

I will have a better idea what is going on next week when I go back to see the surgeon, surgery is in the cards for crushed vertebrae sometime down the road, could be a year, 5, 10 years but they want to hold off as long as possible, I told them just screw that and just give me more pain killers lmaoooo. It is the bloody brace I need to wear that drives me crazy which I only need to wear when I sit or walk but laying in bed gives me a reprieve from the torture device lol, and no one told how hard it was to get used to walking with a cane.

I have been through something similar before so I know it will take a long time to get even close to normal, last time I broke my neck and its never been the same but you get used to it, twice I walked away not paralyzed so all things consider I can live with the pain considering the alternative. And again thanks MA for asking. And plus I got a free helicopter ride

PS: I guess my Mosh Pit days are over hahahaha

Ah man AL ... I was hoping for better news. Sorry to hear all is not going as well as you (and we) might have liked. I spent two years semi functional due to a bad issue so I have a tiny idea what you are going through, but can't really know of course.
Lets hope the surgeon has some good news.
And if you can't do the Mosh Pit anymore then I'm positive you'll be able to transfer your photographic skills into a different area of interest or you'll reinvent the wheel and find a way to shoot bands from a whole new perspective You have great talent with portraits of light and shadow from the little I've seen ... maybe some cool band shots of that nature will be your thing.
Either way ... keep fighting (as you obviously are) and we'll keep hoping you come good sooner than later!

AL, good to hear you are still is good spirits. Maybe its the combination of spirits and pain killers. Either way, you are right, its better to be where you are at now than the alternative. It sounds like you understand that with one day at a time, it is possible to overcome anything. To this day, I have never broken a bone. One day, this will not be true and hopefully it does not come back to bite me. Good luck, getting through this. Sounds like you will be here a little more often.

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!

Tomorrowtreasures asked in another thread how it is going and thanks for the interest, rather than hijack the thread I just thought I would look up this old one.

Well I am much more mobile, I did all the Christmas present shopping, but for every 3 hours of being out walking I am laid up for a day or two. So at least I am moving about. I have done two 13 hour drives with this back but I had no choice family emergency and those two runs took me out for almost a week but nice to know I can tolerate the pain, well with some painkiller help which I cut back on substantially a couple of days before I had to drive. I have heated leather seats so it felt good on my back although it did not relieve the pain still felt good. I was told 4 months before I would be mobile but I cannot be that restrained I am very hyper so sitting around it like being tortured so I have pushed myself until I know I should stop. Having to use a cane bites and may end up needing one for life, only time will tell.

Starting on my two projects in the next week or two, I have an assistant that will be working with me on these until I can do more. She drives so I can take extra meds those days and be somewhat more mobile. I try and see how they go, if it is too hard I will have to postpone the book, but the portfolio for the drummer needs to get done, could use the money. The two broken vertebrate are starting to improve slowly, the big concern is the vertebrate that I crushed that is going be the difficult one, but what happens, happens it is out of my hands.
