    Default Dead

I think I died today. Today started a large snow event for us here in Northern Ohio. I went to the golf course to take a few images. I was getting prepped for the hike and set the camera up on the tripod and set it against the car. When I around, the camera moved ever so slightly. It was about 5 feet in the air, and half a second later it was in contact with the hard asphalt. The camera seems to have been rendered useless. Tonight I will spend some quality time with some scalpels and the operating table to bring it back to life. It seems like it might be a lost effort though. I might have to bury the K10d. Bad day. At least I still have the old K110d to use until I can get a new one.

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!

so heres the deal. I went out and used it tonight. It seems to work well but it might require more surgery. There seems to be some autofocusing problems. It was doing quite a bit of hunting but it was dark out so Im not sure if it was a lighting issue or a autofocus issue. The autofocus points on the left worked but I did not see them on the right side of the viewfinder. It was pretty cold out so there might be an issue there as well. It worked fine in manual focus mode, but I will be content with that for a while seeings as how its better than no camera at all. The backup K110d works fine, but I prefer using the K10d.

Reviewing the images in the viewfind showed that the images seemed to be ok, even with the lens that was attached to the camera at the time. I dont have time tonight to review the images on the computer monitor but I hopefully tomorrow night I can post them up and you can let me know what you guys think.

So far, these Pentax cameras have held up pretty well for the abuse theyve taken. I dont mean to promote the product, but I must say the things I put them through make me a believer. One day Ill post the stuff Ive put them through and you would be amazed at the fact they still operate.

Well first sorry about the mishap and I hope you figure out what is left wrong with it.

Those K10D's are sturdy creatures, aren't they. I'm happy for you it still does something. And it's turning you into a true Pentaxian. :P
Listen, three eyes, don't you try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.
