    Default Anyone with web-video experience?

    Hi members,

I'm putting together some web videos and i have some basic questions...

anychance i could have a 5 min telephone call with a member that knows what they are doing.

Basically....I took a few videos with a cheaper portable . It recorded the videos in .mov format.

The volume sucked so I edited the file with Adobe Premiere. The original filesize was 264 megs.
Now that i have edited it and exported the video...It is 1 GIG.

That's too big obviously.... what's the next step to reduce it for a blog/ youtube etc.

    many thx - marko

Well it's been a while since I put up a web video and you know what they say, if you don't use it, you lose it!. Two things need to be addressed though Marko, Frame size and compression. If the source is HD I'm out of my depth now. In premiere you need to export the file using compression and as I recall for .mov files the best one was H264 but I haven't kept up with the various codecs so that may have changed. Frame size is another variable. SD video is 720x480 pixels but you can take a chunk of the file size by reducing it to 320X240. Bit rate has a role too and I think I used to set that at 512 bps or some such number. There is a great program called Sorrenson Squeeze which will take your 1 gig file and compress it to a more manageable size pretty much automatically while giving you many options for output file type. It's worth owning if you intend to do any substantial amount of video for web. There's a lot to understand when producing streaming video of quality and most of it I've long forgotten but I do remember frame size and compression being two of the key players....Hope this helps

I think you are right Maw.
I am re-exporting this now using the h264 compression codec and now the file is only 112 megs....and I see further settings in the export panel to reduce frame size as well.

Going to explore blip.tv as well.

    Thx!Marko
