    Default Shake Rattle n' Roll?

When I look at this map from the USGS site I have to wonder when we're going to get a quake. I placed a red x roughly where Vancouver sits. If one looks around the Pacific Rim of late, my imagination doesn't have to work overtime to see a big old red box where that X is Maybe I'll move to Africa for a while

Meh...... come to Calgary instead MAW...I have room for a while!
On a serious note...I have been thinking about this for a while...I built my parents an earthquake kit a couple of years ago and i add to it in a regular basis for Xmas gifts. They live In Victoria along with my sister and her 2 kids ...my nieces.
I am thinking about doing the same for my sister this year as well....I hope I have the chance.
They say it is gonna be a gynormous one when it hits....in the 10.0's. I remember when I lived on the coast and was woken up to a few tremours in my day...it was a little unnerving to hear the dresser rattling and the seeing pictures tilted the next day.

I've been in a couple of minor quakes here but was woken up after the fact to see the fish tank water sloshing around, the other time I was in a car and never noticed. A few years back I was staring out of the living room window when I saw a wave, a foot or so high come across the street, onto the lawn and pass straight through the building. It was the shock wave from a quake in the Seattle area. No damage but it sure was one trippy experience

I went through Loma Prieta. Couple of other large ones, not quite so big. A 10.0 is going to take just about anyone out, but it's amazing how much good building codes help. The problems were the Bay Bridge (quake waves they didn't know about when it was built), the Marina district (built on landfill out into the Bay), and Hollister (houses slipped their foundations. Turned out the inspector had been bribed. We're talking some of the buildings didn't even match up to the foundations).

So now I'm in Idaho, where they don't have as much experience, and where there are faults that aren't often active. I'm hoping they keep snoozing.
