Default Walking In The Footsteps Of His Heores

Got the chance to take my oldest to the top of the mountain his heroes made famous. If you have see Band of Brothers then you have heard of Curahee Mountain. This is the one that the training camp for the airborne was at the bottom of. And the road is indeed pretty much 3 miles up and 3 miles down. 2.8 miles to be exact. Only by physically going up the road do you really gain the full respect for those guys! I live in the mountains and it is probably one of, if not the steepest road I have been on. Steep enough that you can't hardly pull up off the back of the car seat. And they ran it fully geared up. Wow. He is all about airborne Rangers though and I thought it would be a pretty cool visit for this 13th birthday.

This is the memorial at the base where the camp was, there is only one building left standing today. The memorial base is shaped like a parachute that goes out to a marker for each division that has all their WW2 combat jumps listed.

Feet cut off were intentional on this one Marko, to contain some of his moms sanity of not seeing where the edge of the rock was. It looked worse than it was.

Totally agree, and the lower portion of leg cut off, works fine here. At least they are cut off between joints, not right on ankle/knees, which is a no-no. Well done Lizardqing, and sure looks like both of you had a wonderful day.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Thanks y'all. It was fun even though we were tired from the camping. He is saying he wants to go back in October and do the Curahee Run up the mountain during the airborne reunion weekend. That will be on venture I will not be joining him on!
