Default Dusk Till Dawn 12 Hr Mountain Bike Race

I've been a bit quiet this week due to being too busy with work and processing some 1800 photos I took on the weekend at an MTB race. Post processing has kept me right out of trouble for the past few days.
Almost done ... just in time to shoot another event this Friday night More processing coming this weekend I guess.

Anyhow ... I thought I might whack a few photos from the race this weekend just gone in here over the next few days or so as I get time.

Nice! I like the first one the most. Must have been a gruelling event for the riders.

A 12hr race is a gruelling event for the riders indeed, also for the photographers and all the people who help run the race and support the riders themselves.

We do 24hr races as well, but also 6 and 8 hr races.

This was a very hard race to shoot. It stared at 7pm, right on dusk, and went until 7am which only gave us about 1 1/2 hours of anything you could call light.

Look at those blokes! Crikey! Holy Dooly! haha Good job MA. No wonder they keep having you back to photograph their events. Keep up the good work. G'day!

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!

It's a challenge for sure Kat. They move quickly. I have raced or been at every MTB race in our region for the past few years now and even the daylight races can be difficult due to the harsh light and shadows. A good flash and knowing how to get that fill light onto a subject doing anything up to 40 kph is the trick.

I am considered one of the better MTB photgraphers around here Rose Mary which is nice to hear. It's mostly about my willingness to get around the track and compose shots rather than sit on the start line and snap off boring ones like many do.
