I tried to shoot a live band tonight

I think you did a good job. I prefer the last one of this set.

I believe this has got to be one of the hardest things to do photographically. And then you have to change your expectations. Remember, you are trying to give the viewer the feeling that they were at the concert (at least that's my goal) which means un-even lighting. You can't get away from that. Runmonty's right. That last one is the winner. You captured the feeling she was singing into the mic. Too bad Acadie-Libre is not around. He could give you a few tips, I'd bet.

I got some great expressions, compositions, and even lighting on a lot of shots (more than just these). The biggest problem was a TON of noise due to 6400 ISO and some missed sharpness.

Hi AT; i think #2 is fantastic. I think i would have cropped the left side in a bit to get closer to her back. Left just her and the fella walking away. All are great; #2 got me...

I like # 2 myself. I like the clutteredness of it. It is perhaps a bit soft on her face but the overall roughness of it reminds me of the Janice Joplin days of noisy, kind of unsharp photography but nice moments.

When it gets too noisy...try embracing the noise and see what happens. Jack it up a stop or two HIGHER. It will get noisier but you can jack up the shutter speed for better sharpness. Might be worth a test - justa thought. In terms of sharpness - some of these look like focus on the eye was missed. You see easily when other elements are sharper than the eye. Focusing in darker places is hard.
You may want to try focusing manually to see if it helps.
