These are terrific asnow. I started going through and chosing favourites but the list got very long. Here is a brief summary 3 and 4 of set 1. 1,2,5 of set 2. 3 & 5 of post 3, and finally # 1 of the last post. All the others are also very good and I dont like leaving them out of the list. Suffice to say you have some real winners there. You captured some wonderul expressions from some creative angles. Did you have special access?

Thanks Bambi and Runmonty. I was extremely pleased with the results, especially since I'm certainly no expert at shooting bands. I can partially thank the 70-200 f2.8 lens I rented for the occasion. Wow is that ever am amazing lens. Set it on manual and shot just about everything at f2.8 and iso 1600 and 1/125 sec.

Riunmonty. I had a difficult time narrowing down my favourites as well from the 600+ pictures I took. Had to leave out some good ones. That's why it turned out to be picture heavy. No I didn't have special access. Just walked up in front of the stage and started taking pictures. It was not a high price (just $5.00 entry fee), high security event. Just four stages set up in the park

Just adding to my previous post I agree with Bambi, and think you should share these with the organisers and especially the bands themselves. I think you will get a very positive response. Sometimes I think we don't realise how much these shots mean to the subject concerned.

As an aside, last year I shot a local historic building. At the urging of some Flickr contacts I shared it with the building' trustees and thought that would be the end of it. It was very well received and I was invited around for cups of tea in appreciation. Earlier this year I received a request to include the photo in a book that is being written about the building.

All are excellent. Credit to the lens is deserved but the photographer also deserves a lot of credit for the compositions. My fave: third shot in 4th set. The saxophone and the player show up really well, nicely exposed shot.

Lovely set asnow!!! I 100% agree with making the bands some copies - it might open a few doors for you.
