    Default DalDance Society Recital

I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph the Dalhousie Dance Society's Recital a couple of weeks ago. Here are a couple of images from the event. Lightroom has certainly improved my editing speed and I think I will get even faster as I learn more about it. It was a very technically challenging shoot and I'm glad I upgraded to the T3i. This just wouldn't have been possible with my old XSi.

Nice set. It gives us an idea of variety of colour and dance you saw.

These are very nice Iggy. Another fanboy for shot 1, but also # 4. I wouldn't have guessed the iso was 3200. Did you remove any noise in processing?

#4 is my favorite. Practice some of your cloning and take the 1/2 lady out on the left (or crop, but the end ratio maybe strange). The red is AWESOME!!!

Since you don't mind your images being edited, I did a quick one. There is some dead space where the lady was at. You could leave in the flower pedals and maybe clone in some more. I cropped out just a little to rid the black line on the right and leveled the stage.

Thanks, Runmonty. Yes, I used the luminance noise removal in Lightroom 5 under the Details tab in the Develop module. I ended up bumping it up to around 60 to 80 depending on the image. It seemed to do very well.

Thanks, AT. I certainly appreciate you pointing out that I forgot to level the stage. No matter how many times we edit it is always good to be reminded of it. I did level every one that I worked on but I guess I missed at least 1. I could whine about how I had gone through 500 images and edited 138 to deliver to the client but at the end of the day I screwed up. :(

As for the edit. I like your result but I prefer mine. The lady on the left combined with the person in the background on their right create a bit of a frame plus the one that you cloned out mirrors (almost) the main subject. Plus, while I like white space sometimes, it makes this image feel imbalanced to me. YMMV

All lovely shots Iggy. If having to pick would also pick #1 and #4 with the lady on left included. Really anchors the shot imo.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
