Missing lots is part of it but looks like you're improving big time.
Back button is cake (and I do it with my thumb) but won't it interfere w/moving the focusing squares - how do you move those on your camera? with your thumb?
I wonder if assigning a button on the front of the camera and using the RING FINGER to move the focus point around is a possibility. That way, ring finger moves the focus squares, thumb locks the focus and index triggers the shutter. Hmmm
