Default you need leather balls to play rugby

people shots aren't my forte, and i don't often photograph humans in any setting, but every once in a while, i like to try something a little different, like shots from a local rugby club match last fall... i played myself, in high school and college, so i have a bit of a soft spot for the sport... first shot taken with Canon 5D and 24-135 lens, the last two taken with my 40D and 100-400, various settings...

I have to agree. The first photo has that sense of speed and aggression known to the game. Nicely done!

I played Rugby for a year ... on a dare ... because a rugby player mate insisted soccer was for sissy's! We both excelled in our nemesis' sport in the end

very nice captures! I keep looking at the second one and trying to figure out if that's a hand on his thigh.

I watched a rugby game once (a friend started a league here) and thought that it looked like a lot of fun. I then reminded myself that I was in my 40's and it might be a bit late to learn to play rugby.....

yep, it is... he's being held up in the air by teammates during the throw-in (called a line-out) after the ball went out-of-bounds. usually his teammates hoist him up by the shorts, resulting in a rather extreme wedgie, but everything sort of works its way back into place in the ensuing action...

    I thought I commented here. :(

Nice set! Love the action of the first and the crispness of the second in particular.
