neat one Casil. I like the play of light. When I was in Halifax last week I saw this building close to the hotel. I snuck back and took some pictures. Not really 'what's in my scrap bin' but the whole building is being scrapped. Which is too bad because I believe it's well over 100 years old. I would have loved to have gone inside but there was this chain link fence all around it. Dang safety regs!

    Cool, Bambi.

The developer has said that they will restore/rebuild the facade to have the same street-level look as it did before it was tore down. The building was literally falling down with water leakage everywhere.

Pulled a few things out of my junk drawer and tried taking a few shots with my new DIY ring light. Here are the results.

I found the DIY info on building the ring light on this page: Modding Project: Ring Light MetkuMods - Because you love your hardware! and thought I'd give it a try. Here's the result of today's efforts:

What I've realized though is my nifty fifty is the wrong lens to use this on as the minimum focal length is 1.5ft and while the LEDs are pretty bright they don't throw enough light for 1.5ft. A macro or something that could be at .5ft or something would be best for this project. It was a fun build though.

I have a lot of these colored floppy disks in my junk shelves. Don't use them at all anymore but I'm afraid to throw them out just in case... Mike
