since it's winter and getting dark at ridiculously early hours, why not have a night photo challenge?

those on the southern hemisphere can still play -they just need to stay up later

I'm a big fan of night photography, so I second this idea!

Although I rarely ever participate in these types of things I think it is a good idea, but why not just add a new sub forum just for night photograph, a challenge is a good idea but it gets not better until the spring and even then people like taking night shots so why not just sub forum in the Show your photo section on top of maybe a challenge to get it started? Just my as per usual.

I like AL's idea...night photography is a genre all unto it's own IMO.

Excellent suggestion bambi - I'm moving this post to the assignment forum though.

    Sub-forum for night photography eh?

Hmmm...not sure about this as it may confuse the subcategories in the show forum. Let's say it's a shot of building at night - would it go in the night photography subforum or the current Architecture & Man Made (cities, buildings, roads, objects & abstracts) forum?

    Opinions?

    Thx!
    Marko

I like it, but we will have to put up with a grumpy MA from his lack of sleep

Can it include shots with the lights out? lol..

    thanks Marko.

    and oops wrong forum.
I'm not sure about it having it's own section but then I do very little of it

I think too with all the Xmassy lights around it might make for an especially good challenge in December.

I'm totally up for this! Sounds like fun.

The sub-forum idea, while understandable, would not work well for just the reason that Marko points out. Sorry, but I don't think this is a good reason for adding a sub-forum any where.

Seems like night photography has a lot of support so that will be this month's assignment. Merging suggestions now.

    Default London at Night

Hello All thought I would jump in on this one.

One night in London, trying to capture the speed of the city.

Ok, I took this about a week or so ago. This highrise is near to the club and has been under construction for more than two years. They have finally taken away the cranes and added some lights and its quite spectacular.

Next attempt will be the 'Toole Peet Tree of Lights' but a cold snap is coming. :(

Question: I was always under the impression that we were supposed to share pictures taken after the assignment was announced. Can we actually use any picture we have taken in the past that meets the assignment criteria?
