I'm not sure I understand the message behind his artwork - I don't have a very artsy mind - but I was enthralled and impressed with his work and the documentary about it.

I saw that several years ago and although I think he is wonderful artist with a really interesting take on what his art is. The man certainly has passion and is a very driven individual. I like you found the movie very interesting as is the man it is about but not my cup of tea artistically. It is all so subjective I can see why others are drawn to it but from a personal perspective I find so many others photographers work far more interesting when it comes to the human body. I am impressed he can get all those nude volunteers all together at the same time. I think if you get the chance it is a worthwhile film to watch. Thanks for posting about it, I had forgotten about it, I think I saw it in 2001 or early 2002 may see about catching it again.
