On One is Giving Away Free software

That's right, On one is giving away Perfect Effects 8. That's right flat out free forever. A pretty darn good deal considering how expensive their software is normally.

I am always a little weary about "free" downloads off the internet. Did you download it, any problems?

It's a huge company AT - obviously u want to be careful but the download is off their own site.....

Yeah, it's safe. It is their own promotion. The freeware does not have as many filters as the paid for version but I imagine they have to compete with the now much, much cheaper Nik Effects. OnOne is a big company, and their software is not cheap. So - they're throwing us a bone.

I downloaded the freebie the other evening after noticing a post about it on DPReview. Works okay, runs a little bit slowly with Aperture though (even with 16 gigs of RAM). From the tests I've done so far I prefer the NIK suite by a mile but I'll keep tinkering and experimenting.
