The minimum requirements are higher than that of PS CS4, I imagine that could be the issue. It is too bad, Ulead Photoimpact was the photo editing software I used to recommend to everyone who wanted a good and easy to use photo editing program that was almost as good as PS and the learning curve was minimal, seems they have ruined it since Ulead was bought out by Corel.

    CS4 for Windows

    1.8GHz or faster processor
Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) or Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (certified for 32-bit Windows XP and 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista)
    512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
1GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on flash-based storage devices)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
    DVD-ROM drive
QuickTime 7.2 software required for multimedia features
Broadband Internet connection required for online services*

Corel Paint Pro X3 for Windows

    Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® or Windows® XP with latest service packs installed (32-bit or 64-bit editions)
1.5 GHz processor (2 GHz or higher recommended)
1 GB of RAM (2 GB or higher recommended)
3 GB of free hard drive space
    Minimum display resolution: 1024 x 768 (24-bit color)
    Windows-compatible DVD-ROM drive for installation
Internet connection required for online features

It seems to require an awful lot of ram almost double that of CS4. The Processor is close but they recommend 2ghz where CS4 requires 1.8 ghz and the faster of course usually the better. Seems to be a resource hog on the RAM side. Also your graphics card will also be an issue.

I run PSP X2 and find it to be a bit slow. However, I love the price and what it does so am prepared to compromise. I am also getting new lap top next month and am taking the RAM into account.

I meet the minimum requirements for Paintshop Photo Pro X3, but just. I don't have a problem with photoshop programs, so this program seems slow in comparsion.

You need to exceed the minimum requirements. Minimum is what is needed just to get it going, to have it work flawlessly you need to exceed them. Never go by what is least required, assume that is will work but very, very slowly. If it requires a gig of ram assume you need 2, if it requires a 1.8 ghz processor assume you need a 2 ghz, requires 256 vid card assume you need 512. Some programs work well with minimum requirements but many don't.

You are looking for a photo editing program am I right that is affordable? Have you looked into an earlier version, like the one previous to this version that has lower requirements? You might be able to get it used a a decent price. Just a thought. I have never used these but this is online photo editing sites you might want to try until you come up with a solution. If you google you will find others and I think adobe has one, not sure though. They may be of no use but if you are stuck which you may not be it is for a temporary solution.
