    Default Staircase

spent my 4th in the woods, away from the crowds, listening to birds and the song of water flowing over stones - infinitely preferable, to me at least, to the racket of the city, the noise of fireworks, and the crowds. anyway, i went over to the west side of Hood Canal, took a trip up to Staircase. hadn't been there in years - well, okay, decades! - and it was really nice to get back over that way. here are a few preliminary images from the afternoon... more to come as i process the rest of the shots i took. all with 5D and 24-135, various settings, polarizer and/or ND filter.

this little stream flows down right next to the road beside Lake Cushman...

a shot from down on the riverbank, well "off the beaten path"... not one you should try at home unless you're comfortable scrambling down steep banks and over boulders...

Gorgeous! Great stuff. Glad you nominated it, MA, saved me the trouble!

The composition, the colours, the beautiful flow of the river.
