    Default Windermere Lake.

I took these while we were having a picnic at the side of Lake Windermere. Some people were having a party on the boat on the left, but they didn't invite me aboard.

Just after I took these, a couple arrived with their L-series glass, so a retreated to back to my picnic.

    Looks like a nice place.

Never be afriad of L Series glass if you are using pro-sumer gear Richard. Some of the best photos I see on Flickr are from entry level gear. It means nothing. Your eye, using your lens where it's strong, and your processing will win every time over some 'Squid' ... someone who has "all the gear and no idea."
Even with an idea I feel like a Squid sometimes when my daughter takes photos at the same location with equipment worth a 1/4 of mine and produces better shots. And she does often enough I can tell you!

Thanks guys, Maybe if I painted my lens white I would feel more confident????

I think your right MA, it's all a balance between equipment and photographer, the pro-summer stuff is pretty good, and good enough for me at the moment.

I hear you on the confidence thing. It's nice to have the obviously top gear when others around you have as well. However, being more 'invisible' with the smaller pro-sumer gear isn't a bad thing either sometimes.

The best value is the gear in between. In Canon the EFS and EF lenses in the larger diameters (around the 62 - 72mm range) but not L Series stuff is half the price of L Series. Yet the photos produced are definitely not half the quality and in fact, in most cases every bit as good. Only extreme situations seem to show up the differences.

    too funny, really.

anyway, great series, love the compositions. So if you can achieve this with your gear, you really do not have to hide anywheres ... imho. Keep it up

Ha! Ha! That reminds me of a little discussion on one of the photos of my flickr contacts. Three Canons were set up on tripods on a roof top. The photo was taken with a Nikon (his Nikon). He called the shot three canon salute and said they would not let him put his Nikon with the others. One of the comments said something like, "well when they turn pro (Canonites) they get the white lenses 'cuz that's how they roll." Something about that made me laugh.

Anyway, you have enough really good stuff under your belt that you do not need to defer to anyone white lens or not.
