    Default Tipsoo dawn

went up to Tipsoo Lake, near Mt Rainier, this past weekend to catch the sunrise. i got there the evening before to do some recon and find the best vantage point. after the sun went down, i flopped the car seat back and snoozed for about 3 hours, then got up to shoot some star shots, then napped again for another hour or so and got up again at 5:00 for coffee and a sandwich before heading over to the lake. i got set up about a quarter to 6:00, and at 6:05, right on schedule, the sun touched the top of the mountain. i got this shot about 5 minutes later... the mountain was in full alpenglow, but the sun hadn't yet come over the ridge behind me to light up the area around the lake... Canon 5D, Tammy 24-135 @ 89mm, 1/2 sec @ f/13...

What a beautiful place to be to greet the morning sun - I love the rosy glow of the sun's rays on the snow. Great picture!
