    Default The Flume Gorge

in summer this place is crawling with tourists. Craw. Ling. I don't go anywhere near the place. In winter it gets its share of traffic, too, but these guys I can handle -

Can I have just a little more peril?

All I can say is No. Friggin'. Way.
Here's a view from the walkway not far from where that climber was, near the top of the gorge -

On the bottom left is the snow covered river - the Pemigewasset, and to the right the equally snow covered walkway. NOT made for snowshoes, BTW. The river does still flow though and makes for some really pretty (if treacherous to photograph) ice formations -

I had to go off trail to catch this. The way the light plays on the trees and snow just speaks peace to me. Ice climbers gave me funny looks on their way in while I shot this. Yeah, they're fit judges of crazy, right.

There's a covered bridge at the entrance to the park that is photographed about 100 times a day.

All in all it's a very pretty place, but you'll only get me there in winter.

Looks like a great place to visit. The ice climbing looks fun.

Thanks guys. Climbers love this place in winter. Summer, not so much.

I have to agree with your attitude towards crowds. I don't handle them very well. As for the climbers, I'm glad they're having fun. You couldn't pay me enough. I do like your photos of them and the ice formations.

Thanks. We didn't even think about ice climbers when we decided to go there, so they were a bonus.
