I braved the woods yesterday on my continued hunt for wildflowers I haven't photographed before. The mosquitoes really make you question your sanity though. That being said I might go back to dig a few plants up because the flowers really need more study up close (I can transplant them in the yard when I'm done). Luckily they're not too far in and I can survive the short hike.

Another stroke of luck was the dappled sunlight since I'm trying to work more of that into my woodland floor shots. The wind cooperated every once in a while, too. This was shot w/my old legacy OM 90mm f2 macro and my trusty bag of barley to sit the camera on.

Lovely delicate looking flowers and the light looks very nice.

Very nice shot of the Wintergreen JAS, and I also hear ya' about the bugs bin the bush.

(funny, just yesterday, my husband had a bit of headache from too much sun, so I broke off some wintergreen leaves and gave them to him to chew on. He said only 10 minutes later, headache gone).
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I love spider thread surprises. I hardly ever notice them in the field, but they magically appear in Lightroom.
I've heard that the wintergreen family has analgesic properties. Like this one I shot the same day is called shinleaf and was used in plasters to treat bruises and contusions, especially on the shins. the flowers look like popcorn to me and it was a real PITA to shoot. The flowers point down, most of the plants were trapped in dense undergrowth and the breeze was pretty constant. But I stuck with it and came up with this -

Strangely enough I had just found a deer leg bone before shooting this. I had no idea it was called shinleaf at the time.
