    Default Going underground on Maui

While on Maui we took the road to Hana. Supposed to take about 3 hours to get there ... well, if you do not stop and smell the rain forest .. or do a detour. We ended up in this Lava Tube. It is an underground cave formed by the lava flow from the volcano. At the entry we were given a LED torch and warned to watch our step. Throughout the cave there were little tables informing the visitor about the creation and modification of this lava tube. It had explanations about all the different colours (depending on what mineral the lava was flowing through and so on. Was pitch dark in there, and taking a picture here or there proved difficult. My Sherpa was busy ogling the scenery, and was not willing to wait for the photographer, or even better, maybe lend a hand. Having the camera in one hand, and the flash in the other does not leave many hands free for shining the torch on the walls so one could focus. And trying to hold the torch between your knees proved rather difficult Here is a link to a 10 image slideshow .... and for those who get bored with that only one image ...
