Scottish Highlands

So my family is here visiting from Canada and we took a trip up into the Highlands. Wasn't near long enough and my camera was having issues, but I managed to get some decent shots. I'm still in awe about how amazing the lanscape is and how similar it is to parts of Canada. But when you know that Scotland broke off of North America during the continental shifting and collided into England, it all kinda makes sense. Yes, there are man-made objects in here, but really, the houses and castles are truly a part of the landscape here.

The first couple are at Eilean Donan Castle in Dornie, and the others are from Plockton. Both places are close to where you take the bridge over to the Isle of Skye.

Here's a few from turned out to be the longest two-day weekend of my life! (11 hours on trains in 2 days with a toddler who doesn't want to nap…)

These are interesting. The castle looks like it would be an afternoon worth of shooting alone. My favorite is the third with all the water reflections. You could easily crop out the foreground for a more focused image. Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks for sharing Lindsay. I spent a few days at Dornie for Hogmanay (New Years) a number of years ago, so your shots have brought back some (rather fuzzy) memories . It is certainly a beautiful spot.

Wonderful shots. How did yo manage to have nice weather there?? I remember my two times in bonny Scotland, and all I can think off is rain, fog, and Glenmorangie .....

Nice set Lindsay, and really like that second one. Nice layered depth to it, and something of interest for the eye to linger on in each layer. Very well composed.

Thanks everyone! We just happened to be in a heat wave! lol. It was 24 and 25 degrees Celsius for several days. We're trying not to believe that that just might have been summer for us already.

Runmonty… Hogmanay and fuzzy memories sound about right.

Thanks for posting. My eye is drawn to the colours and textures in the rocky background hills - would love to see them close up.
