Ok....so, I've picked up a new "toy" and I'm currently doing some experimentation with some astrophotography. This is one of my first shots using my Celestron Nexstar 130 SLT telescope as a prime focus lens. Done using a 25mm eyepiece and 2x barlow (52x magnification). REALLY tricky getting a stable image. This particular image is of a crater called Tycho. I do look forward to further experimentation....TRES addicting!

Something you may or may not have considered is mirror lock up. It's something you'd want to consider with such a long "lens" on the front of the camera. A small jolt from the mirror flipping can cause a bit of motion blur.

I like your results so far though and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

With telescopes there is always a bit of chromatic aberration....

Thx for the info. Always good to hear what I should expect. I never thought of the mirror-lockup....now all I need is another clear night (or at this time of year.....morning)

I, myself dabble in a bit of astrophotography, and have to say, wintertime can be phenominal! Crisp, clear air...when the stars aren't twinkling, that is when the seeing (photographing) is the best.....keep it up, and show us more!
Keep an eye on that 'Tools of the Trade' project thread in the assignments forum...I try to add new pictures often!
