    Default Battle In The Heavens

    Last week Australia was lucky enough to have an early morning total eclipse of the sun by the moon.

    In our region though the eclipse was not total ... and I forgot about it and it was well into it before I realised and started shooting ...

    Thanks people

    The repetition was caused by the fact I was shooting directly at the sun so the reflections are caused by the glass elements within the 400mm lens. The sheer brightness kept the image soft. If I used a higher aperture it eliminated the reflections and just looked like a white ball with a crescent cut out of it. I could have made that in photoshop.

    Matt ... I screwed on an ND4, an ND8, and a CP ... apart from that it's out of camera.

    Wow, kinda what I thought, actually, I thought you might have used a 10 stop filter, with the reflections and all ... multiple layers of filters could have given you easily more reflections ...
