yes, this was my first experience with a photography forum & yes, i over reacted, very un-canadian, i don't care if you are a novice or professional, we are all on the ladder of knowledge, hopefully, with an open mind, many comments did not reflect this, i am not a professional photographer, i have enough technical know-how to be able to express myself as an artist, before turning to the camera, i had three years of traditional visual arts training, please enjoy my latest photo submission & yes, i am open to comments, good or bad

Thanks to all who have commented on the latest photo, yes, I am new to showing my work online & in the future, shall keep the file size bet. 50-150k, as Marko suggested, without the silly signature.

Several comments suggested there is a leaning to the right, actually, the camera angle is quite level, the only thing level in this decaying swamp, is where I was standing.

this makes me think of a monet i love the orange color of the tree, as well as the rest of the fall colors.

Colors are nice and vibrant! I'm not to sure but I think it's slightly tilted towards the right (or so my eyes see it). Hope the mosquitoes weren't out for yah for htis one!!

Once again, I got one huge monitor and it's slightly tiny so I can't quite see it in full force.

This is your best shot so far imo. I very much like the vibrant spots of colour and i dig the composition. Could use a hint of selective sharpening. I agree with Kat on the leveling.

Your signature in the middle is an absolute distraction and is totally taking away from this image. Until you get paid megabucks for your images you are doing them a huge disservice with your sig. I prefer to see sigs subtly placed at the bottom right or left.

I completely agree with Marko regarding your signature. It is the very first thing my eye sees in this photograph which I am certain is not your intent. The colours here in this image are stunning and I quite like this image but IMO the entire photo is completely overwhelmed by the watermark which is a shame because as I said it is a nice photo.
Please do your images a favour and move your sig' to either the lower/upper right or left corner and out of the line of vision.

I think web44 is like most people new to posting their photos online ... overly concerned with copyright issues. Most of us were/are that way as well. For now I'm happy to ignore the sig and look past it. I went through the same issues myself ... you only have to look at my earlier postings here less than a year ago and compare them to now to see the difference.

The good ol sig debate! I went from right across to a little one to nothing at all. I know there is a risk but I also know how good people are at photoshop. If you really don't want it out there I just wouldn't put it up.

I too am trying to sell prints and some of them are up on the internet but that is how they are seen and purchased. Kind of a catch 22 in ways...

I just try to keep them a good res for seeing and fast load times but lousy for printing usually between 50k-150k.

The coolest sig technique I've read about lately (but haven't tried yet) was in Kelby's PSE7 book where he scanned his signature (well actually it was the co-author Matt Koslowski's signature) and turned it into a brush preset. That way if you do use PS/PSE (any version, and I'm sure there's ways to do this with Gimp or Corel too) for touching up your best images you can easily brush on your signature anywhere you like on the image and even make it lighter or darker, bigger or smaller, to suit your background. I'm sure to many of you that's old news...

And I guess one has to be careful not to scan their REAL, as in cheque/contract signing, signature....just their artsy fartsy looking version.
