They look like they were arranged in a circle by someone. You know if you burned in those clouds you might be surprized how much it could add some more guts to the shot.

How do you burn clouds? As I said I'm daft in the PS department!

You know something ... that's scary! It really is. I shudder to think how good some of your shots are going to be when you learn some decent PP techniques!!

In Photoshop and I guess Gimp and hopefully other programs you should find a tool for burning. Usually it's with the Dodging tool because they do the opposite of each other. One 'burns' (a technique from film processing) in the colours and shades to make them more dominant and darker. Dodging lightens them. Usually you set the brush to only do a slight burn on each pass ... I use about 6 -15% most often. You keep brushing the areas you want until you have the effect you need.

Wow...that's one of the nicest compliments I've gotten...thanks MA.
I'll go to PS elements and have a look. I'm not back at school until the 11 of January so I have another week to play!

I agree. Casil, you have some absolutely wonderful images now, adding some PP skills could really make the images pop even more.

I've tried using the dodge/burn tool in Gimp but it always ends up looking like sh*t. I just don't have any PP skills myself but maybe it's something I can learn. I wonder if there are courses for that around my neighbourhood...

I used to have Gimp on my PC but it's not there now. I never got around to really playing with it. I should reload it and have another look. It's supposed to be good.

Exactly Casil! Some of those skies of mine that you have marvelled over have been created with those tools. In fact, you've thought I'd use HDR on a few occassions when I didn't ... I used these tools.

You use the Dodge tool to lighten those trees up a little too. Maybe even a rock or two
