    Default Cairns Holiday

Hey everyone, in early February I flew up to Cairns with my sister and my Nana for a week's holiday. It was a great holiday, and I would like to share these photos with you. Bare with me though, there is alot of photographs to process through, and during the process I will post up a few photos from each event.

To start off...our flight up was fairly pleasant, and my Nana and I were very excited when we could see over the ocean, out of the plane's window, at the most beautiful sight of the Great Barrier Reef. I was then shocked into photograph mode.

Neat images. I've only been on a plane once and it was foggy and cloudy the whole trip. I really didn't see the ground until we pretty much landed. These images give me an idea of what I might have seen. Thanks for sharing.

It is a cool sight to see the reef from the air like this. I've seen it from a jet plane like these AND from a helicopter which was also neat.

Chantelle took loads of shots on this holiday, including snorkelling on the reef, visiting a Spanish Castle in a tropical jungle, train journey up a mountain range and a 'skyrail' journey back down again, so I imagine she is going to be adding lots more as the hours and days pass.

    Day One

We landed in cairns and had a look around cairns city mall, it wasn't much.

    Day Two

We got up nice and early ready for the Kuranda Train Railway ride. This took us up through some tunnels in the Great Dividing Range.

The train slowed right down as we passed the Bridal Vale Falls so everyone had plenty of time to hang out the windows and take a photo! It would have been great if we had actually stopped here so we could get out to take photos (can't always get what you want though).

The train did however stop at Barron Falls. These are the biggest waterfalls I have seen in my life.

Nice shots. I like the first Barron Falls shot as the water doesn't look as dirty as it does in the last one.

I've been on that train and the cable car. It was a great day, but quite a while ago now.

I can't wait to take a flight where I can take the DSLR. Lately all the flights I catch are for work on smallish planes with a 4kg cabin limit which my Laptop uses up, and I'm not putting the DSL in hold. I often watch the luggage handlers put the baggage on the plane and they are quite disdainful in the way the throw stuff around right in front of you.

We got off the Kuranda Train into the town of Kuranda. We had a beautiful lunch here before exploring the Kuranda markets and then going on the Skyrail back down the great dividing range.

that sky ride looks like a lot of fun!

What is the pool shaped body of water in the last picture? Is it a resevoir?
