No "manage a troi" for this Merganser

Pierce Estates in Calgary. Walking about trying to get a good shot of a couple of Merganser Ducks. Here they were peacefully swimming about, minding their own business. Was a little cold, so they were close together.



Their marital bliss came under attack from another male, who decided to butt in. Landed right next to the original male and swam along side for a while. Well, the original male did not like that at all and:



Then the pursuit started:







Had to get the whole neighnorhood excited with this chase:



But in the end he won ... and peace prevailed (for now, at least)

Ha! Ha! The chase is hilarious! Their little feet must have been have been going in circles like cartoon chases. The interloper has such a sly look about him. "Oozing charm from every pore, he oiled his way across the floor."
