Cool set of an interesting place.

I don't mean to be obtuse or argumentative but I've always wondered why is it always "sad" that something's being torn down and something new is being built? Just because we build a house or a building does that mean it must remain forever? Sometimes we just need to move on, don't we?

It depends on what's going in. The complex issue, at least here in the US, is that the subsidies don't actually help the smallest farms. The rules are such that whether it was intended or not, the money actually goes to midsize farms with household incomes of $100k or more.

So my sadness is twofold. The first is that a small farm might have shut down simply because they couldn't make it and they didn't qualify for aid (don't know if that's the case or if it works the same way there). The other is that too often what you end up with is a block of buildings that house tanning salons, boutiques selling plastic wiggling dog butts (the term in my household for junk people spend their money on because they can't figure out what to do with their time), "fast cash" places and fast food. We have plenty of those, and it can be argued that they aren't good for the populace they serve in general.

If it ends up being an office complex where the companies come up with something new and bleeding edge, great. I'm just not sure the odds favor it.

This land is worth a fortune!!! I am sure the owners did very well. The sadness for me is more thinking about the change that is going on and the fact that a family was probably raised here and there are memories of this place when the city was smaller. God I"m getting old!!! Change is good.

I agree whole heartedly. Especially about the "God, I'm getting old" part. I am up there in age as well, and all I can say is "leave the fast paced environment" to those who do not have eyes to see. For me change is slowing down, and YES! Change is excellent!

Yes I took 2 shots one of the barn throught one window and one of planes lined up through the other window. It kind of creeped me out, am I allowed to take picture of planes at the airport? Gale
