    Focal plane is a little too shallow for me here, MM. A bit distracting to have out-of-focus areas both in front of and behind the subject.

    I love the detail in the shell. I don't mind the shallow DOF. Maybe it is some sort of distortion field caused by the speed of this little fellow

    Must have been a really fast shutter speed! Where's the motion blur? :-)

    I also must agree the tail end should be as clear as the rest of the snail. I think a minor change in the angle and you could have used that DOF but right now I am finding the tail just to irritating to look at.

    The texture on the snail's body and shell is amazing. I don't have a big problem with the out of focus tail, but it was one of the first things I noticed.

    Agreed, it looks as if it has scales, although that's not what those squares are. I guess I've never looked closely at a snail, that picture is kind of educational.
