    Default Are YOU a Geek??

I decided I'm only a geek when I'm sitting here talking to you lot or out taking non event photos

My day starts with me swinging hammers, drilling, screwing (down JJ down boy), as I build offices for real Geeks

But then I do some graphic artist work for web design so that's back to 'Geeksville' I guess too

I also mountain bike (rcreational and race) and ride road (cycling) as well. Not Geek-like behaviour at all.

So, what do you Geeks do? Who are you exactly?

Extreme sports fanatics? A champion sweater knitter? A Race car driver? An Office Geek? Professional photographer? Maybe simply a devoted housewife and mother? Which btw is a stressful and strenous job in itself!!

Tell us a little about you!

Hmmm. I am a professional unemployed college graduate still. Quite the opposite of geek so I learn about photography and law to keep my mind going when there is nothing to do. I am generally fishing, camping, hiking, taking a short road trip, kayaking or figuring out my next adventure. Generally my camera accompanies me on the adventures in case something trips my shutter. Since ice time is expensive to get here, a few others and myself started an inline hockey league here in the city. We are starting up our second summer this year and have almost 200 members involved. I mountain bike a lot as well but lost both tires a couple summers ago and havent fixed it since, the kayak took over since then. Would love to get to Boundary Waters area or Alaska for an excursion with my tent, pack and kayak. High adventure is the name of my game, been white water rafting in West Virginia in the New River twice. White water rafting in Alaska, mountain climbing there as well. Went skydiving a couple years ago. Been on several hiking trips, spelunking(cavediving) numerous times, and rapelling many times. Wanted to learn to scuba diving but bungee jumping is first. It was supposed to be this summer but a few weddings came up and I ran out of money as well. I take a LOT of pictures when Im not doing the ladder.

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!

I'm too geeky to be a "normal" and I'm too normal to be a geek.

That means I'm not normally cool, and I'm not geek-chic-cool. I fall right in the middle, which is the worst of both worlds.

Which basically means, everyone you ever meet thinks you will fix their computer for them (which as every semi-geek knows, enslaves you to that person's computer-whims for life.)

    Hmm.

I'm a stay at home mom but used to be a Weather Observer (geek).

Before the days of kids, my life was lived for billiards (which I wish to get back into), a good game of poker and Friday night darts. Hmm..definately a geek! I don't do any of those things as of late but picked up hockey and photography. Oh, and I guess weight training.

Besides that, not to much to say. I'd say I"m more boring than geek though.

This is cool. No one's boring even though people often think they are.

    Keep em coming

    Talking Major Geek

I'm a major geek. BSc in Computing Science. 25 years of programming computers. Our house has 3 desktops and 2 laptops. My day job is as an Information Architect where I research better ways to manage information and build software solutions. My spare time is spent either with my family or at the dojo where I practice Chito-Ryu karate. I like playing with YouTube and PicasaWeb

I do non-geek stuff like turn a wrench, hike, snowboard and workout. And I was in the military...

Buuuut... I am an IT major student, have more computers in my living room than places to sit, enjoy build diy things and spend more than half my free time on the computer. And not to mention a serious gadget and tech fetish...

I am a geek! I admit it! Anyone who builds a computer into their car has to be a geek, right? There would be no argument if you saw my high school pic.
