    Default Done to death?

    Hi all,

I just recently posted a question in the "off topic " forum about why people seem almost apologetic for posting images of flowers they've taken.
this brought me to another question I'm pondering...what other subjects do people find as 'too common...done to death or.... overused?"

I've seen comments about sunsets being overdone and other subjects but i am curious to know people's opinions on this subject.
As I stated in my other post, IMO, I think that in every subject there is a way to capture it to make it interesting no matter how many times it's been photographed already and I think pretty much all subjects have merit, value and interest.

Flowers probably are one of the most photographed and posted subjects and I guess that's because they either can't run very fast, are hopeless at Hide n Seek, or are right little posers and love to see a camera pointed at them.

I do have to admit that I now look at other photos in the show and critique forums before I look at flower shots. But there have been some stunning flower shots here that are worthy of viewing in anyones book I think.

I think the more a particular subject, such as the flower, is posted up then the more creative people will have to be to impress.

I think flowers are quite a good learning tool though for several aspects of photography including dof, focus, composition, colour, exposure so I tend to look at those in critiques forum if I have time.

I think the same applies to sunsets or other subjects as well ... if it's 'done to death' then be as creative as you can as well.

B Master Duck (Michaelaw) certainly took the most photographed bird in the world and made us look much more closely at Donald many times this year with his creative and clever shooting.

Well like I said in the other thread depending on who you talk to almost everything can be considered cliche, overdone, etc, so it's best not to worry about it. Flowers, sunsets, cars, fireworks, mountains, waterfalls, lone trees in an empty field, cute babies, it's all been done, as they say. Heck, I just posted B&W shot with localized colour to the monthly assignment forum, but I have to admit it was on my mind there would be some people looking at it and thinking "oh jeez, not another..."

My mistake has been seeking new landscapes. I should have been seeking new light.
