    Default Hi all!

Glad to be here. I discovered the podcast and then this friendly forum.
I'm new to photography and bought myself a DSLR very recently (had to wait for the holiday discounts to end, you know ). I've since been having a blast with the new toy, wading through my small stack of books, and looking over the fine photos that you've all posted.

Ditto! I hope you enjoy your stay with us here at Photography.ca. Without being too much of a gear nut, what did you end up buying?

Thanks for the welcome guys o/.
I bought a D7000 with the 18-105 kit lens and a 50mm 1.8. Originally I had bought a Canon G12 to work with for a year or so. I was quite impressed with it's quality, but ultimately I felt that it would have become relegated far sooner than I had anticipated.
Astronomy is my primary hobby and I will likely, at some point in the future, use the Nikon for DSO photography.. although astrophotography was not my primary reason for buying the camera, or even a serious consideration. My current telescope, although beefy at 14" in diameter and 5' in length, is absolutely not of a type that is useful for astrophotography. In the meantime, I'm having a blast learning to compose shots and about the camera itself.
