    Hi there Aussie,

I am in no way attracted to this man dissapointing as it might be.

The picture however is different as this speaks a story.
I like the fact that the water is captured in such way that it seems not wanting to let go of its victim who is breaking loose.
The eyes of the man closed give a different look than one would expect normally. (pictures where subjects have their eyes closed are often disguarded by people)
In this case it adds to the picture giving it something of the Fight the man is putting up against himself in this sporting event.

In all a very nice photo that sure indicates the sportive challange.

I am wondring what the equipment was that you used, mostly the lens and the actual distance to the subject.
Probably the weather was great or did you use some lighting.
I assume you had close acces to the track as an reporter/photographer or alike.

    Greetings,
    TJD

Thanks for your interest in this TJD.
The equipment I used were my Canon 40D with a Canon 100-400mm zoom lens and a Canon Speedlite Flash.
I was reasonably close so the flash would hit the subject, probably about 5 - 6 metres from memory.
It was a VERY bright day. The lighting from the sun was very harsh around 1 1/2 hours after sunrise on a 30 degree day.
And yes ... I was official photographer for this event.
